ABC Challenge S is for Sirene (H)

So, so very late with my next letter in the Challenge. The letter is S and for that I choose Sirene (H) from ILNP. It is a very pretty duochrome polish.

It shifts from green, sort of a dark teal, to purple. ILNP makes some beautiful duochromes that the shift really does show up on the nail, when so many don't. You can also see a bit of gold in the bottle.

This photo was taken in sunlight, which really shows off the duochrome.

Love that I can actually see the shift on my nails.

The great thing about this version of Sirene is that it also has a holo in it.

ABC Challenge The Letter R

I was torn on what polish to choose for the Letter R. I originally chose Remember Aja by Girly Bits, then I decided I wanted something more spring like so I was going to choose Re-Freshment from China Glaze.

Well then I went and picked Remember Aja out of my drawer and figured since I hadn't done a manicure yet for this challenge with Girly Bits, it should be my choice.

It is a very pretty purple holographic polish.

This polish has special meaning to read about it go to http://www.rememberaja.org/.

ABC Challenge The Letter Q

This was a hard one (as will some in the future) I don't have all that many Q polishes.

I managed to find Queen For A Night by Finger Paints, it's from the Masked Affair Collection in 2014. I must add Finger Paints has become one of my favourite polish brands. Though I do tend to wait til they are on clearance at Sally Beauty to buy them.

Isn't that a pretty polish?  This is a dark blue polish with a green shift and lots of gold flakes in it.

The shift is more apparent in the bottle, but I can notice it on my nails.

Though it didn't on me, I have read that this polish can stain.

ABC Challenge The Letter P

Princess Peach by EatSleepPolish is my P polish for the ABC Challenge.

This is from the Fairies & Princesses collection which is still available on

Even though pink is not a favorite nail color of mine, this is a very pretty pink holographic polish.

Easy application with a decent holo effect.

I think the holo shows up more in this second photo. It's not the strongest holo, but it's definitely there. The unicorn on my ring finger is also available on EatSleepPolish. Caterina has a number of different vinyls available.

ABC Challenge The Letter O

For my O polish in the ABC Challenge I chose Orly's Oui.

It is a pretty purple with a very intense gold shimmer in it. I think the next picture shows it better.

I only have a mini bottle, but I really should have a large one, This is just such a gorgeous polish.

ABC Challenge The Letter N

For my N polish I used a new addition to my collection, Nori from Zoya. I got it when Zoya opened their shipping to Canada.

Nori is one of the newer and regrettably last of the Pixie Dusts Zoya is making.

Nori is a Magical Pixie Dust which means it has holographic hex glitter, that sparkles through.

Even though I didn't top coat this, I really didn't feel that much texture to it.

Just an add on to this, I used NYC's Strip Me Off Basecoat. I am loving it so far. I wore this mani for almost 4 days without losing any peeling off or any chips for that matter.

ABC Challenge: M

Again a little late, but this is my M polish. It is Finger Paints Margarita Mambo. Which happened to be a fitting color for St. Patricks Day.

It is a very pretty vibrant green, but it was quite sheer. I needed to do three coats and I can still see some nail line. Though it was not as noticeable in person.

This has a pretty yellowish-gold shimmer running through it.

ABC Challenge: The Letter L

I choose KB Shimmer's Let's Sleigh Together for my L polish.

KB Shimmer has fast become one of my favourite Indie brand polishes. Such beautiful glitter polishes, with great formulas.

Let's Sleigh Together is  grey based with green and blue microglitter, blue and green smaller hex glitter and larger blue circle glitters plus it has a holographic microglitter that sparkles.

ABC Challenge brought to you by the letter K

Next up in the ABC Challenge is K, for my K polish I chose Square Hue's Kalver Straat.

It's a nice pretty hot pink color.

The next picture shows a better bottle shot.

Two coats and not a bad formula, but the brush was rather stiff making applying it somewhat difficult.

J is for Jack

I had originally chosen Jail Bait from Pure Ice as my J polish in the ABC Challenge, but then I got Jack the Lad by Butter London from a buy on a Swap/Sell group. So I changed my mind a used it.

Jack the Lad has a dark green jelly like base with yellow, blue and green shimmer.

I admit I had a hard time photographing it on the nails, but it was definitely there.

(excuse the paper cut on my ring finger)

Here is another photo in the sun.

This one really shows the shimmer in the bottle.

Very pretty polish, would make a nice St. Patty's day mani.

ABC Challenge I - Infra Red

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

For my I polish for the ABC Challenge I chose Infra Red by China Glaze. It was one of their Holographic polishes that came out in 2013 I believe.

It was going to be a sunny day(finally) so I thought a holo would be a good choice.

While not an overly spectacular holo in normal light. In fact it seems to have a shift to blue when you look at it.

In the sun it is more holographic.

I am a fan of the China Glaze Holographic polishes. There are still a couple more I need to get a hold of.

ABC Challenge H - Halley's Comet by Orly

My H polish for the ABC Challenge is Orly's Halley's Comet, which is a beautiful turquoise polish with a very strong gold shimmer running thru it.

The above photo was taken in the sunlight.

I love this polish color, it was on my want list for awhile.

This photo was taken in my lightbox. In both you can see a slight nail line, but I really didn't notice it while wearing the polish.

I wore this for 5 days, most of them working and had no chipping and very little tipwear.

I will say I had some staining on my nails and on my skin around my nails when I removed it. I used Julep's Vanish to remove the staining from my nails and it just washed off from my skin, which was nice.

ABC Challenge: The Letter G

For G I choose Essie's Go Ginza. I got this polish from the subscription box TopBox.

I didn't mind the formula on this one, but the brush was horrible, I found it to be really, really stiff which made it hard to paint my nails.

I have a feeling this will make it's way to my declutter stash as I have Essie's  Full Steam ahead which I find to be a nicer light purple color.

F is for Flutterina

My F polish is the ABC Challenge is Eat Sleep Polish's Flutterina. It is part of her Fairies and Princesses collection.

On the website it is described as a silvery lavender sparkly, shimmery, micro-flake filled holo.

I did two coats, but I really think I could have used a third.

As you can see there is some visible nail showing.
This picture was taken using my light box and the holo is not showing up a whole lot.

This second picture just taken under a regular shows more of the holo, but it also looks like a different color.

Oh how I wish for some sunshine to photograph these beautiful holographic polishes.

Not so Enchanted Winter

Recovering from a major winter storm.

Enchanted Winter by Finger Paints is my E polish in the ABC Challenge.

It is a pinky rose colour, I really can't describe it accurately, I read another blog mentioning it as a copper based color. It is a textured polish.

here it is without a top coat. I like it better with though.

D for Dream On

Little late on putting up my D polish for the ABC Challenge.

I chose Enchanted Polish's Dream On. It is an exclusive polish made for Nail Polish Canada, which is where I picked it up in either December or January.

It is a deep purple holographic.

I did top coat this with Seche Vite, which I find whenever I top coat a holographic polish is does seem to dim the holo somewhat. The above pic was taken in the sunlight.

Below is one I took in my light box.

Not nearly the same holo-y goodness as there is in sunlight, but still very pretty.

ABC Challange: The Letter C

Next up for the ABC Challenge is the Letter C.

For this manicure I chose Layla's Cherry Diva from their Soft Touch Collection. There are some very beautiful polishes beside Cherry Diva in that collection. Cherry Diva a a beautiful pinky colour with a strong gold shimmer running thru it.

Layla is an Italian polish company. They don't put the names on the polish bottle, just a number on the cap. Cherry Diva is 05. The Soft Touch polishes are I believe meant to be worn without a top coat. Here is a picture before I added a top coat of Seche Vite.

Soft Touch is an accurate description of the polishes it does feel very soft when you touch it.

I did put on a top coat.

It makes it shiny but didn't really enhance the gold shimmer very much.

and because I had just received my order from Moyou London, I decided to stamp over it.

I'm not sure how readily available this line is anymore, but if you are in Atlantic Canada Lawton's does sell the brand.

The Big B

Time for the second letter of the alphabet B.

For B I chose Bright Copper Kettles a polish from one of my favorite indie polish makers  EatSleepPolish .

Bright Copper Kettles came out around the holidays in 2014. It is a matte and textured polish(very light texture). This is two coats.

I also decided to add a top coat afterwards

still as equally beautiful either way.

A is for Apple

Time for A in the ABCchallenge.

I started off with Dance Legend Argus as my pick, it is a fine microglitter polish. So it didn't go full coverage as you can see

So off it came (easily since I did a Elmer's Glue basecoat). So still sticking to the A theme I went with Maybelline's Audacious Asphalt. A very pretty light grey that needed 3 coats to become opaque.

So I decided to add one coat of my original A choice Argus over it and I really like the combo.

Thanks!

My First Blog Post

My first blog post and I have no clue what I'm doing!

About me

My name is Christine and I love nails and anything nail related.

I admit I've been in somewhat of a slump for 2015, so I decided to join a monthly nail challenge to get me back on track.

I did manage to build a light box(out of my David's Tea box, another passion of mine).

far from perfect, I just still have to work out my lighting.

While I have had naked nails most of January, I've been using my Bliss Kiss Nail Oil to help them out some.
